Description:

With naturally divided sections of terrain for skiers of all levels, Copper Mountain offers winter sports fanatics 2,465 skiable, in-bounds acres (997 ha) to explore just 75 miles (120 km) west of Denver in the Colorado Rockies.

Copper Mountain boasts 140 different runs on a mountain that's naturally segmented into different terrains, with easy-going beginner slopes in one area and expert, technical runs in another. Approximately 21% of the terrain is classified as beginner, 25% as intermediate, 36% advanced, and 18% appeals to expert skiers. Copper Mountain runs 8 surface lifts and 15 chairlifts, including 5 high-speed quads and a high-speed 6-pack. Plus, there are 2 Snow Cats to whisk skiers from the base to the summit of Tucker Mountain and Copper Bowl for cat skiing.

With an elevation range of 9,712 to 12,312 feet (2,960–3,752 m), Copper Mountain sees more than 285 inches (7.2 m) of snowfall each year. There's plenty of ground to cover at Copper Mountain, with 2,601 feet (793 m) of vertical drop and runs up to 1.7 miles (2.7 km) in length. If your style is more half-pipe than groomer, practice your jumps, grabs, and tricks in 1 of 7 terrain parks of varying difficulty.

Popular with Colorado residents, Copper Mountain is also an official US Ski Team downhill training venue, and you may recognize some of its lifts and locales from Jim Carrey's 1994 comedy hit Dumb and Dumber—the movie's ski scenes were all filmed here.
