Engage with the rich tradition of empreita de palma, or palm weaving, practiced in Portugal for centuries. From choosing the ideal plants to work with to observing the weaving techniques in a workshop, you witness all the processes involved in creating a truly artisan product.

Begin out in the fields in an idyllic rural setting and learn how to select the appropriate leaves for harvesting. Sustainability plays a key role, so choosing which palm is ready for use is a part of the process. With the fronds collected, you're ready to head back into the village to meet a local weaver who demonstrates the next steps.

Welcomed into their workshop you receive an insight into how the fronds are treated and prepared, ready to be cut and designed into the desired product. In a small group this is an excellent opportunity to enjoy local hospitality and chat with village residents in a take a breaked environment.
