Description:

The mountain of Montserrat, a source of stunning views and Catalan pride, and Gaudí's architectural masterpieces, declared UNESCO World Heritage sites, are combined in this full-day tour. Complete your Spanish cultural experience with a tasting of traditional liquors.

Hop aboard a comfortable bus and head to the Benedictine monastery of Santa Maria de Montserrat, built into the mountain and considered an important religious and cultural site. Many pilgrims come here for the statue of the Black Virgin (La Moreneta). As you explore, learn how the monastery continued to hold Catalan-language ceremonies in the face of the oppressive Franco regime.

Make your way back to Barcelona and view the remarkable architecture of La Sagrada Família, under construction since 1882. Stroll through Passeig de Gràcia, where 2 of Gaudí’s marvelous works—La Pedrera and Casa Batlló—are settled. Then head to the bizarre Park Güell and take photos of the multi-colored mosaic salamander, known as el drac (the dragon).
