Description:
Spend 4 days exploring the spectacular Bay of Islands in the far north of New Zealand. Visit the historic Waitangi Treaty Reserve, watch for dolphins on a cruise across the bay, pass by Cape Brett Lighthouse and the magnificent “Hole in the Rock,” and use some time to explore the bay on your own.
Day 1:
Leave Auckland behind for a trip to the town of Paihia, where you can visit the historic Waitangi Treaty Reserve. Learn about New Zealand's early Maori and European history before you continue your tour on board a purpose-built catamaran and look out for bottlenose dolphins, whales, and other marine life.
Admire the stunning coastline as you travel past the Cape Brett Lighthouse and hold your breath as you cruise under the narrow arch of the majestic “Hole in the Rock.” Visit the Grand Cathedral Cave in the afternoon before your overnight stay at a local hotel.
Day 2:
Enjoy a day at your leisure and experience the beauty of the Bay of Islands. Cape Reinga, at the northwestern tip of the North Island, is just a coach ride away, or you can explore the many local cafes and waterfront restaurants along the bay.
Day 3:
Relax with more free time in the morning. You can pay a visit to Russell, the first capital of New Zealand, before your tour departs in the afternoon and returns to Auckland for your overnight stay.
Day 4:
After your breakfast, ride a transfer to Auckland Airport as your tour comes to an end.
