Description:

Journey to the Bay of Islands on this day tour from Auckland and explore the historic sites of Waitangi and Russell. Visit the Waitangi Treaty Grounds and enjoy a ferry ride from Paihia to the romantic township of Russell, the first capital city and home of early English settlers.

After your hotel pickup in the morning, cross over Auckland's Harbour Bridge and head north along the Hibiscus Coast with its endless beaches. If time permits, break at the Parry Kauri Park to view the native ancient kauri trees.

Your first stop is at the historic Waitangi Treaty Grounds, where the Maorians and Europeans first came together to sign a treaty of understanding that formalized New Zealand's future as part of the British Empire. Take a guided tour and marvel at the magnificent Maori meeting house as well as a large waka (war canoe).

Travel across the bay and continue with a short ferry ride to Russell for a guided tour of this enchanting town with its rich political history. There is enough time to break for lunch (own expense), explore museums and art galleries, or shop along the waterfront before your ferry trip back to Paihia, where you hop back on the coach for your return transfer to Auckland.
