Description:
A UNESCO World Heritage Site, the Blue Mountains—named for the bluish haze that hovers over the eucalyptus-forested hills—offer acres of untouched wilderness to explore. Motor along off-road trails in a 4x4 vehicle, and savor a white-tablecloth lunch on a bluff overlooking the valleys below.
Set out in a 4-wheel-drive vehicle with a local guide, cruising along forested trails and by dramatic canyons and cliffs as you take in the splendor of the great outdoors. There are 8 different, interconnected national parks and conservation areas in the Blue Mountains, and the natural beauty of the region is on spectacular display as you tour.
Pass by the Three Sisters rock formation. According to Aboriginal dream-time legend, these sandstone outcrops are actually 3 charming girls who were turned to stone to protect them from danger during a violent battle. Gaze out over the lush gorges of Grose Valley, and stretch your legs with a nature walk to get up close to tumbling waterfalls and the mountains' rich flora and fauna.
At lunchtime, your guide sets up a table on a high hilltop overlooking a canyon. Sit back with a glass of Australian wine and enjoy cheeses and fresh, seasonal cuisine in this unforgettable setting. If it's windy or cold, lunch is at a special indoor location complete with a cozy fireplace. Continue the adventure after your meal, taking in the grandeur of the mountains as your guide regales you with the area's geological history, ancient myths, and stories about early explorers and their exploits in the hills.

If you are staying in Wentworth Falls, Leura, or Katoomba, hotel pickup is available. You will receive confirmation of your exact pick-up time when you call to confirm your reservation. Alternately, you can choose to meet the group outside the Wentworth Falls Railway Station in the Blue Mountains.
