Description:
Go rappelling into the depths of Tigersnake Canyon for a unique adventure exploring the deep, narrow canyon. Negotiate several long abseils, wade through cool waters, and have lunch amid the ancient trees for a memorable day in the wild.
A half-hour walk through Wollemi National Park brings you to the crack in the ground that marks the beginning of Tigersnake Canyon, with barely 3 feet (1 m) between its walls. Rappel into a pool of cool, ankle-deep water at the bottom of the canyon, the first in a series of abseils and down-climbs that brings you next to a waterfall and out into a charming rainforest gully.
Another spectacular long abseil takes you along a big drop between two canyon walls that stand only 6 feet (2 m) apart. A break for lunch surrounded by ancient tree ferns and towering rock formations gives you a chance for some rest, before the steep hourlong exit signals the start of your return journey.
