Description:

Learn about the notable personalities, heroes, and icons who have shaped Argentina's history on this walking tour, with a special focus on the beloved and controversial First Lady Eva “Evita” Perón.

Listen to the fascinating life story of Eva Duarte, who rose from poverty to pursue a career as an actress before marrying Juan Perón and becoming the First Lady of Argentina. Before her death at the age of 33, Eva Perón championed the rights of women and the working class. Consider her legacy as you visit her mausoleum at the charming La Recoleta Cemetery.

Continue on to the modern metallic Floralis Genérica sculpture as your guide tells you about General San Martín, leader of the struggle for independence from Spain. Traverse the verdant Parque Tres de Febrero and learn about its French-Argentine designer Carlos Thays. Then pass by the Galileo Galilei Planetarium on your way to Chinatown for a look at one of Buenos Aires' busiest and most diverse neighborhoods.

At the Plaza Italia, pause to hear about the life of 20th-century writer Jorge Luis Borges; then arrive at the Museo Evita. Housed in a mansion that Evita turned into a shelter for women and children in 1948, this museum paints a portrait of the indelible mark Eva Perón left on the city of Buenos Aires. Look at images of Evita addressing crowds of Peronists from the balcony of the Casa Rosada. See her dresses and gowns on display and read excerpts from her book La Razón de mi Vida before your tour concludes.
