Description:

Get on a bike and explore the ruins of the Mayan city of Coba, deep within the Yucatan Peninsula. Hear scriptures from the Book of Mormon as they relate to the Mesoamerican settlement from around 100 BC.

Upon arrival in Coba, opt to mount a bike or take a seat on a pedicab with your guide pulling you along. Climb the 130 steps to the top of the Nohoch Mul Temple, the tallest pyramid in the state, to experience the panoramic views of the rain forest from the top. See 2 ancient ball-game courts and ponder the rules of the Mayan sport. Visit the second pyramid, “La Iglesia,” with its top rounded from centuries of erosion, before biking on to the Mayan Village.

Spend some time with the self-sufficient Mayan community near one of the region's integral lagoon systems. Follow your guide through the forest before boarding the bus back and hearing how the locals utilize the flora and fauna for health and sustenance.
