Description:
Explore Eastern Ecuador by venturing to the astonishing crater lagoon Quilotoa and the Amazon, the world's largest rainforest. Visit the stunning Pailón del Diablo waterfall and explore the immense biodiversity of the planet's biggest jungle.
Day 1
Leave Quito behind and head south to the famous Avenue of the Volcanoes before arriving at Quilotoa. Climb to the top to admire this deep crater lake, 2 miles wide and 820 feet deep, formed over hundreds of years. After enjoying lunch, continue to Baños de Agua Santa, famous for its numerous waterfalls. After checking into your hotel, make the most of your evening by exploring the charming town on foot.
Day 2
Begin your day with a delicious breakfast, before setting off to the famous Ruta de Cascadas, where up to 60 waterfalls flow in the charming region. The highlight of the day is your hike to the breathtaking Pailón del Diablo, 300 feet high and accessible by a hanging bridge. Head back to Baños de Agua Santa for a short city tour before checking out and heading east toward the Amazon and the Casa del Suizo lodge.
Alternatively, you may choose to participate in one of the optional activities (available at an extra cost) such as rafting, ziplining, or mountain biking.
Days 3 & 4
The last 2 days are dedicated to canoe rides, virgin forest hikes, and boat trips to different indigenous communities. Explore the exotic world of the local tribes that have inhabited the Amazons for centuries, adhering to traditional lifestyles. As you cruise along the Napo River, spot a variety of tropical plants, birds, and animals pointed out by your knowledgeable local guide.
