Description:

Take in spectacular views from one of the best vantage points in town: aboard a river boat. See a blend of new and old architecture, the European Central Bank, and the riverside pubs of Sachsenhausen. Change boats to sail up and downstream, and enjoy commentary from the local personnel onboard.

Jump on a spacious river vessel at Eiserner Steg, and make yourself comfortable on either the outdoor deck or in the lounge. Head downstream to enjoy splendid views of glitzy skyscrapers in the financial district and leafy riverbanks, until you arrive at Griesheim lock. You can either return to your departure point, or get off to visit sights in the area, such as Städel—home to one of the most important art collections in Germany. Later (if you choose), you can take another vessel back; boats depart every hour.

Upon return to Eiserner Steg, you board another ship going upstream. Picturesque old districts pass by, such as Sachsenhausen, famed for its charming cobbled streets and apple-wine taverns. Choose to jump off at Gerbermühle—a charmingly restored country house with a great restaurant and lovely gardens—and explore the area. Soak up the take a breaked atmosphere of historical neighborhoods, or visit the house where the famous poet Goethe was born. Afterwards, return to central Frankfurt on another boat.
