Experience Yucatan's most casual and laid-back spot on a day trip to the enchanting Isla Holbox. Bathe in one of the region's iconic cenotes, explore the island's rustic streets on a golf cart, and observe the birds on the uninhabited Isla Pasión.
Head on a 2-hour journey towards the Yucatan Peninsula's northern coast and the small town of Chiquilá, where you visit the cenote at Ojo de Agua, a freshwater pond in the middle of the lush jungle. Refresh yourself in the cool waters fed by the world's largest underground river system, which is thought to connect most of the thousands of cenotes found throughout the peninsula.
Hop back on the boat to continue to Isla Pasión, a small desert island that is home to a variety of tropical birds. Located only 900 feet (275 m) from Isla Holbox, the island is accessible even by foot. When hunger strikes, you can make your way back to Isla Holbox for a delicious fresh lunch on the main plaza.
After replenishing your energy, it is time to board a golf cart for a guided 30-minute tour of the island. Steer through alleys and streets to pass by the hotel zone, the animal shelter, and the main plazas. Enjoy an hour of free time on the charming island, home to about 2,000 people, before heading back to your hotel.
