Description:
Spend 3 days in Kakadu National Park to explore the natural beauty and cultural history of this UNESCO World Heritage Site. From the Aboriginal rock paintings at Burrunggui to the majestic cascades of Twin Falls, the park surrounds you with unique and incredible sights.
Day 1:
A guided walk into the park takes you to Burrunggui, a stone outcrop that features examples of ancient Aboriginal rock art. After lunch, take a cruise on the famous Yellow Water Billabong and visit the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre for more insight into the area's first inhabitants. If you like, you can buy a spot on a 50-minute scenic flight to admire the park's landscape from the air.
Day 2:
Travel by 4x4 and take a half-mile (900-m) bush walk to the plunge pool at the base of the spectacular Jim Jim Falls. Here, you can go swimming or just take a break and enjoy the scenery before heading to the day use area for a picnic lunch. After your meal, board a boat to travel up along the gorge and enjoy the scenery around the falls.
Day 3:
In the morning, stop at the rock outcrops of Ubirr to view another collection of Aboriginal rock art. Next, go for a cruise and look for saltwater crocodiles on the East Alligator River. With an Aboriginal guide and special permission from the local people, you have a unique opportunity to step ashore in Arnhem Land, one of Australia's largest Aboriginal reserves.
After a visit to the Bowali Visitor Centre, your transfer takes you back to Darwin as the tour comes to an end.
