Description:

See some of the most famous sights around Darwin with a 4-day tour of the country's iconic forests, rivers, and bluffs. Cruise along the Yellow Water Billabong, go swimming at the base of Jim Jim Falls, and learn the history and culture of the native people who made their lives in the bush.

Day 1:
Start your tour with a journey into Kakadu National Park. Stop at Burrunggui, commonly known as Nourlangie Rock, where ancient rock paintings depict Aboriginal history and mythology. After lunch, join your guide for a cruise on the Yellow Water Billabong to see paperbark swamps, water lilies, and local birds. Keep an eye out for saltwater crocodiles as well.

After a visit to the Warradjan Aboriginal Cultural Centre, head to the hotel that will host your stay in Kakadu and get settled in for the evening.

Day 2:
Your morning starts early with a 4x4 ride through a spectacular scene of sandstone outcrops, escarpments, forests, and floodplains into Arnhem Land and the Mikinj Valley. With an Aboriginal guide accompanying most tours, you can see traditional rock art and learn about land ownership, bush skills, and bushfood along the way.

Day 3:
A 4x4 ride takes you to Jim Jim Falls, where you can take a rugged, 2,900-foot (900-m) bushwalk to the plunge pool at the base of the falls. Enjoy some free time, go swimming, or take a break by the water before a boat ride and a walk bring you to the base of Twin Falls.

Day 4:
In the morning, stop at Ubirr, take a short walk to view Aboriginal rock art, and join the Guluyambi Cruise in search of saltwater crocodiles along the East Alligator River. Next, accompany an Aboriginal guide for a journey into Arnhem land; with special permission from the local people, you have the opportunity to go ashore. Visit the Bowali Visitor Centre before your return journey to Darwin.
