Walk in the footsteps of Pope John Paul II on this tour of Krakow and Wadowice, his childhood home in the Beskidy Mountains. Discover the churches and universities where he grew up, and listen as your guide reveals how he rose through the ranks of the Catholic clergy to become Archbishop of Krakow.

John Paul II, otherwise known as Karol Wojtyla, spent 40 years in and around Krakow, and it remained a place close to his heart. Begin your tour with a visit to St. Florian's Church, where the young priest began his career. Continue to the gothic basilica of St. Mary's to see the plaque commemorating the 1981 “White March,“, when half a million Poles dressed in white and marched in response to an attempted assassination of the Pope.

Continue to the grounds of Jagiellonian University, where Wojtyla lectured in theology. Walk to the Archbishop's Palace before visiting the Sanctuary of Our Lord's Mercy—one of the most important pilgrimage centerres in Poland. Your final stop isn Wadowice, the town where the Pope was born. Visit his family house and parish church dating back to the 15th century, before making your way back to your hotel in Krakow.
