Description:
Learn the best techniques for catching the waves from a professional surfing instructor who monitor and encourage you in a dry-land session as well as in the water.
Get suited up in a protective top and surf shoes and head to the beach for a short dry-land demo. Learn how to stand up, balance using careful foot placement, and slow down or speed up with gentle weight shifts. After demonstrating your prowess on the white-sand beaches of Kihei, your expert surf instructor runs you through a few practice exercises close to shore.
Now you are ready to tackle the surf zone. Paddle out with your instructor, who holds your surfboard right up until you're ready to ride the wave. A long, flat board gives you a sturdy base of support and control in the water. Follow the 1-2-3 steps: kneel quickly, get up on 1 knee, and stand to surf. Soon you're on your way to mastering the waves of Kihei.
