Description:
Venture to the Palo Verde National Park and meet some of its many inhabitants, including more than 300 bird species, monkeys, crocodiles, and iguanas. Then take a 2-hour cruise on the Tempisque River, passing through a spectacular tropical sanctuary of mangroves, swamps, and freshwater lagoons.
Following your hotel pickup, head out into the wild. The Palo Verde National Park forms part of the Tempisque Conservation Area, a vast protected zone that spreads over more than 45,000 acres (18,211 ha). Upon your arrival at the park, embark on an exciting boat tour.
Prepare your camera for possible encounters with a diverse array of birds, including roseate spoonbills, white ibises, jabirus, and tiger herons. As you continue, keep your eyes open for nosy anteaters, awe-inspiring crocodiles, howler monkeys, and white-headed capuchins. Along the way, your guide gives you fascinating background information on these exotic animals, many of whom are found only in Central and South America.
