Description:

Feast on tasty fresh food produced from the fertile volcanic soil of local farms as you journey through the stunning Golden Circle. Admire awe-inspiring vistas in Thingvellir National Park, and then marvel at the force of nature at the thundering Gullfoss waterfall and the sprouting Strokkur geyser.

Leave the city behind and head to the spectacular Icelandic wilderness to UNESCO-listed Thingvellir National Park. Famed for its outstanding natural beauty, this is where the North American and Eurasian tectonic plates collide. Visit a working farm at Efsitdalur, owned and run by the same family since 1850. Taste skyr, a Viking dairy product, and get ready for a feast of homemade bread, soup, roast beef, and fresh trout from the river Útey.

A scenic drive takes you to the majestic Gullfoss waterfall, which plunges over 2 tiers into a crevice 105 feet (32 m) deep. Proceed to Strokkur, a fountain geyser that erupts every 4-8 minutes—sometimes up to 130 feet (40 m) high. At the Fridheimar organic farm, learn how tomatoes grow at this latitude and savor a delicious bruschetta snack accompanied by mouthwatering tomato schnapps.

View charming Arctic architecture at a turf farm near Islenskibaerin. Here, sample popular Icelandic foods including dried fish with seaweed, flatbread with smoked lamb, pancakes with whipped cream, rhubarb jelly, honey, and herbal tea—all locally produced.
