Description:

This is dinner with a difference. Work up an appetite with an easygoing kayak trip across Lake Wakatipu to Kinloch Lodge. Paddle out across the lake under the peaks of the Southern Alps, and take a break in charming surroundings as you dine on a freshly prepared dinner.

Leave the evening buzz of Queenstown and head towards the idyllic settlement of Glenorchy at the head of Lake Wakapitu. Pick up your kayak and set out across the calm evening waters as the sun begins to drop in the sky. Head past the confluence of the Rees and Dart rivers, dwarfed by the peak of Mount Earnslaw, as you admire the breathtaking scenery.

Next, land on a nearby beach and stroll up to Kinloch Lodge, a historic former hunting cabin that once housed the region's early millers, loggers, and explorers. The chef has been hard at work, and after a quick change of clothes, you can try the delicious creations as you admire the view.

After dinner, as the last of the sun's rays catch the peaks and hillsides, pop the life jacket back on and head home through the atmospheric fading light.
