Description:

Dramatic landscapes dotted with lava fields, fissures, and geothermal activity await on this full-day tour. Visit a major fishing port and the bubbling mud pools of Grunnuhver before a quick stop at the world-famous Blue Lagoon. Then drive across multicolored hills to the scenic Kleifarvatn lake.

The Reykjanes Peninsula in the southwestern corner of Iceland is well known for its striking scenery, which includes the area's volcanic activity. Arrive at the fishing port of Sandgerði and travel through the Miðnesheiði mooring before a stop at a 19th-century Lutheran church built with lava stones. Walk over the symbolic footbridge at Sandvík, crossing the fissure in the rift between the North American and European tectonic plates.

Magnificent ocean views open up from the country's oldest lighthouse at Reykjanesviti. Take your vacation photos at Iceland's largest boiling mud pool in Gunnuhver. Then it's time for a couple hours at the excellent Blue Lagoon visitor center, a well-known geothermal spa. You can choose to take in views from a nearby platform, which also offers restaurants and bars, or purchase an entry ticket locally to indulge in a spa treatment.
