Description:

Get a foothold in the adventurous world of rock climbing as you learn to ascend granite cliffs with chalky hands just north of San Francisco. With an experienced climbing guide to show you the ropes, find out what it means to belay and rappel, and uncover the best techniques for tying the perfect support knot.

Meet your instructor in the stunning landscapes of Castle Rock State Park and walk through dense forests of redwood, fir, and madrone to reach your climbing classroom. Don a sturdy harness and strap on your helmet while you get an introduction to essential knots, safety procedures, and climbing techniques. Ideal for those with little to no experience, this fundamental class is geared toward helping you gain an understanding of bouldering basics.

When you’re ready to gain some altitude, make one last rope check, locate your first handhold, and leave the ground. Pick your way between ledges and steep pitches as your maneuver up the rock face, listening to your guide as they offer helpful tips and route advice.
