Learn how to plan, strategize, and design your very own kayaking trip on this fun-filled training adventure. Complete a near circumnavigation of the San Juan Islands with an ACA-certified guide to further develop your kayaking and paddling skills and to survive in the world of adventure.
If you have basic to intermediate paddling skills and you want to jump-start your own self-support kayaking adventures—this training journey is ideal. Led by fully-trained, experienced ACA-certified guides, packed with thrilling scenarios, and hands-on training, the trip offers plenty of opportunities to learn and develop your skills as you explore the natural beauty of the Juan Islands.
Gain the ultimate survival skills for your next kayaking escapade. From packing a kayak, planning the route, and reading a marine chart to assisted and self-rescues, navigation, and checking tides, you acquire skills to conquer the waters. Setting up camp, cooking with edible plants, and Leave No Trace minimal impact techniques help you to find a safe spot to settle down for the night.
To enhance your skills further, bring along your own equipment to increase your level of preparedness as an overnight paddler. Throughout your trip, your instructor assesses your skills and can provide you with an ACA Coastal Kayak Skills Assessment or Day Trip Leader Assessment.

You should have sufficient travel, injury, and accident (including sporting accidents) insurance.,
You must have basic to intermediate level of paddling skills.,
Although equipment is provided, it is recommended to bring your own camping and paddling equipment to help improve your skills. Some items may be available for rent if you do not have your own.,
You will receive a complete packing list in your trip confirmation packet.,
This activity departs from Lopez Island, which is located approximately 100 miles (160 km) north of Seattle and is accessible by car and ferry. You must make your own way to the meeting location. Please check ferry schedules in advance and plan to arrive early.,
