Description:

On this full-day tour, admire the UNESCO World Heritage Sites of Changdeokgung Palace and Jongmyo Royal Shrine. See Insa-dong, a quaint neighborhood in the busy city center, before you marvel at the impressive brick construction of Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon.

Start in Seoul and drive to the Changdeokgung Palace, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Set in the large park in Jongno-gu, this palace was the main residence for many kings of the Joseon Dynasty and is the most well-preserved of the 5 remaining royal Joseon palaces. Here, take the chance to wonder at its charming garden used for leisurely strolls by royal family members.

At the Jongmyo Royal Shrine, the oldest Confucian shrine built to preserve deceased members of the Joseon Dynasty, watch for tablets that have teachings of members of the former royal family. In the quaint Insa-dong neighborhood in central Seoul, stroll past many galleries with contemporary and traditional Korean fine art. Take an opportunity to buy souvenirs from antique stores, handicraft houses, and pottery and porcelain shops.

Later, stop at another World Heritage Site, Hwaseong Fortress in Suwon, and marvel at the construction of the wall, which is believed to have been constructed scientifically using seokjae and jeondol (bricks). Get an up-close view of spaces between the bricks that are just big enough to fire guns, arrows, or long spears.
