Description:

Experience the Outback and the spiritual presence of Uluru (Ayers Rock), known as the heart of Australia. Traverse the Walpa Gorge at Kata Tjuta (Olgas). Learn about Aboriginal culture, and of course, take in the many faces of the Uluru—especially during your sunset dinner.

Begin your day in the early hours with a hotel pickup and travel along the Stuart Highway, passing by the mountainous West MacDonnell Ranges. Stop for a light breakfast at a typical Outback roadside stop. Cross remote plains and experience the vast openness. Pass by Mt. Ebenzer, Mt. Conner, and stunning sand ridges pocked with desert oaks.

Then arrive at the fascinating Uluru. Enjoy a full-circuit guided tour around the base. Learn about geology and hear the legends of the rock. Visit the Kata Tjuta Cultural Centre and explore Aboriginal culture and art.

In the afternoon, explore the nearby Kata Tjuta, a tumbled mass of protruding rock domes. Here, trail through Walpa Gorge and beyond—to cool valleys and hidden waterholes.

Leave Kata Tjuta behind and head to the Uluru sunset viewing area. Here, witness a spectacular sunset while sipping on a glass of wine or juice and indulging in a barbecue dinner. After this memorable day, sit back and take a break on your return ride to Alice Springs.
