Description:
Head north from Vancouver to the year-round resort town and outdoor playground of Whistler. Take in the scenery during a breathtaking drive on the Sea to Sky Highway, and then enjoy the charming village at your leisure, lingering over lunch or going for a ride on the Peak 2 Peak gondola.
Your private guide picks you up in a luxury vehicle from your Vancouver hotel, the cruise ship port, or the airport and crosses over the iconic span of the Lions Gate suspension bridge, a National Historic Site of Canada, and merges onto the Sea to Sky Highway. This breathtaking road runs along Howe Sound, hugging the coast and offering stunning views of dramatic fjords, snow-capped peaks, and lush, forested hillsides and islands.
Stop during the 2-hour drive to stretch your legs and take in the view at tumbling cascades like Shannon Falls and Brandywine Falls. If you’d like, you can also add on stops at historic sites along the highway. Take an underground tour of a real copper and gold mine at the Britania Mine Museum, see steam locomotives and historic engines at the West Coast Railway Heritage Park, or, depending on the season, head to Brackendale Eagles Provincial Park to see hundreds of bald eagles coming to roost.
Arrive in Whistler by lunch time and spend the rest of the afternoon as you like before your early evening return to Vancouver. Find a sunny patio to enjoy lunch in the village, check out the shops and galleries, or choose to purchase a ticket to ride the high-speed gondola to the summit. From the top of Whistler Mountain, the views of the surrounding peaks are spectacular, and the Peak 2 Peak Gondola to the summit of Blackcomb is an unforgettable ride over high alpine landscapes and Fitzsimmons Creek, which winds through the valley 1,427 feet (436 m) below you.
