Description:
Explore the vast backcountry of Callaghan Valley by snowshoe and get an up-close view of the winter wonderland's natural beauty. Led by a naturalist expert of the area, travel down the Medicine Trail and through the lush forest while learning about local philosophy, science, and history.
From Whistler Village, depart towards the heart of Callaghan Valley and explore a snow-blanketed forest full of life and walk along a creek teeming with native fish. Be awed by the towering and age-old Douglas Firs and Red Cedars as your enthusiastic and knowledgeable guide describes the natural intricacies of Callaghan Valley.
As you progress through the Medicine Trail, learn about the plants' healing properties; many of the ferns, mosses, and lichens have been used for their medicinal properties as antibiotics, gauze, or as an immunity-boosting tea. Watch for local wildlife such as deer, chipmunks, and hares as you learn the history of the ancient civilizations that once called this backcountry home.
At the end of the tour, give your feet a rest and take a break by the fire with a hot cup of Canadian tea.
