Be picked up from your hotel in the city and travel to heart of downtown Yangon to see the majestic, octagonal Sule Pagoda. Take in the magnificent view of this pagoda that's said to be more than 2,000 years old; gaze up at its 150-foot (50-m) golden dome.

Next, visit the National Museum of Myanmar, a gorgeous 5-story building containing priceless artifacts such as antique ornaments, jewelry, historical paintings, and relics from the ancient Pyu period (2nd-century BC). While here, take out your camera and snap pictures of the grand throne of the Sihasana Lion and the tall statue of King Bayinnaung, who turned Myanmar into the largest empire in the history of Southeast Asia.
