After you're picked up from your hotel, enjoy an air-conditioned ride to the Blood Compact Monument—this sculpture commemorates the 1565 Sandugo ritual between the Spanish explorer Miguel Lopez de Legazpi and the chief of Bohol Datu Sikatuna. Pass by the centuries-old church in Baclayon, badly damaged in a 2013 earthquake, and check out the Spanish-influenced architecture in Tagbilaran, the City of Friendship.
Set out into the countryside, passing by idyllic villages, dense mahogany forests, and landscapes dotted with palm trees. Stop at a butterfly farm in Bilar, where vibrant species unique to the Philippines flutter around you. Next, make your way toward the Chocolate Hills—this spectacular geological formation is an endless stretch of 1,268 chocolate kiss-shaped hills rising up 100–156 feet (30–50 m) like a scattering of giant gumdrops. Look out over the mysterious landscape, then head toward the river.
Step aboard a river boat to cruise down the Loboc and keep your eyes peeled for bug-eyed tarsiers—one of the world's smallest primates—playing on the banks. After a day filled with explorey, your tour concludes with a delicious dinner of Filipino cuisine at a floating restaurant on the river.
