An early start is required to catch the world’s largest Buddhist temple at its best—at sunrise. At the Borobudur Temple, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, stroll around the huge grounds as the sun begins casting rays of early morning light. View scores of volcanic blocks decorated with splendid carvings forming a majestic sight.

A short trek through plantations leads to Watu Kendil, an excellent spot for panoramic views of the region including 5 volcanoes and the grand temple complex you explored. In the rural village of Candirejo catch a dokar, a horse and cart ride, to see where locals farm crops and dry produce such as vanilla and chili. At a lively market, watch the hive of activity as vendors jostle for trade and locals go about their daily business.
