Call it the last great unexploreed resort—Red Mountain is just 10 minutes north of the US border on charming British Columbia's famous Powder Highway. This destination offers winter sports enthusiasts access to 4,200 skiable acres (1,700 ha) and abundant snow all season long.
Red Mountain boasts 110 runs on 3 different mountains, offering up fall-line descents, wide groomers, technical chutes, and glades of old growth forest. Approximately 18% of the terrain is classified as beginner, 31% is intermediate, 23% advanced, and 28% appeals to expert skiers. With all that space, the options for carving new tracks are endless—just 7 lifts serve the alpine expanse, delivering riders to peaks with 360-degree descents and nearly limitless options for making your way down.
There's plenty of ground to cover at Red Mountain, with 2,919 feet (890 m) of vertical drop and average annual snowfall of 300 inches (7.6 m). Cruise from the summit at 6,807 feet (2,075 m) down the hill's longest run, which covers 4.3 miles (7 km) of rolling alpine landscape. If jumps and grabs are more your style, check out the rails, boxes, and tabletop jumps for all ability levels at the terrain park.
Grab breakfast at the lodge before you hit the slopes, and when you've clocked your vertical feet for the day, head to the village of Rossland. This 1800s-era mining town's streets are lined with Old West storefronts. Swing open a saloon door for an après-ski brew with the locals in this one-of-a-kind resort town.
