Next drive along the “Trail of the Eagle's Nests,” a series of watchtowers and castles. After multiple wars and weathering, most of these are now in ruins, but some have stood the test of time and are remarkably intact. Stop at one of the best-preserved castles along the route, the Pieskowa Castle. Situated in a strategic location high above the trees, this former 14th-century fort was rebuilt 200 years later as an opulent Renaissance home.
