For more than 44 years, the Royal Yacht Britannia served Britain's Royal Family. This is a lavish residence that hosted state visits and official receptions and welcomed some of the world's most influential people, including Sir Winston Churchill, Rajiv Gandhi, and Nelson Mandela. The ship also served as the setting for royal honeymoons and family holidays. After 986 state visits, the ship was decommissioned in 1997.
