Description:

Find a once-in-a-lifetime adventure as you dive into the ocean to go snorkeling under a phenomenal Kona sunset. See the light in the water as daylight fades and the sun drops to the horizon, and watch as the graceful manta rays perform an underwater ballet in the night.

The excursion begins with a half-hour boat ride on a spacious catamaran that takes you north to Garden Eel Cove. From here, you can dive into the water and spend some time snorkeling, and then enjoy a spectacular view of the setting sun as your captain provides some information on manta rays and the next leg of your evening.

Once the dark settles in, the crew takes you out on a special surfboard, fitted with lights to attract the plankton in the ocean. Manta rays feed off of the plankton, so hold onto the board and watch the amazing spectacle as the unique sea creatures gather around. Measuring from 8 to 18 feet (2.5–5.5 m) across, the incredible mantas will often swim within inches of you.

After you return to the catamaran, have some snacks or cookies with water, soda, hot chocolate, beer, or wine. Kona is one of the few places in the world that offers such an experience, and the knowledgeable and capable captain and crew make for a truly a memorable evening.
