Description:
Embark on a self-guided driving tour to explore the sites and attractions of Kangaroo Island at your leisure with your own car. Take your car to the island by ferry and visit sites on your suggested itinerary, in your own time.
Suggested itinerary:
On your first day, drive along the scenic Fleurieu Peninsula to Cape Jervis, where you stop at the SeaLink Travel Group office to pick up a map and suggested itinerary of local sites and attractions. Then catch the ferry to Kangaroo Island.
Upon arrival on the island, drive to Baudin Beach and the Pennington Bay area for amazing views and great photo opportunities. Head to Seal Bay and join a guided walk (own expense) along the beach, following your guide through a colony of rare Australian sea lions.
If you feel more adventurous, swing by Little Sahara for sand boarding (own expense) or walk up the dunes to experience the sweeping views at the top. Then spend the night in your selected accommodation.
On your second day, make your way to Flinders Chase National Park to explore the Remarkable Rocks, a very unique rock formation. Venture to Admirals Arch for the chance to see New Zealand fur seals at play.
Stop at the hidden beach at Stokes Bay to experience an amazing section of coastline. Visit Sunset Winery for a tasting plate and a sampling of local wines (own expense) as you watch the sun set over the water. Finally, check in at the Penneshaw ferry terminal for your return to the mainland.
