Breathe in the sights, sounds, and smells of Kathmandu—post sunset. This whirlwind, guided nighttime tour escorts you through winding backstreets, bustling markets, extravagant temples, and ornate palaces—all from the thrilling perch of a traditional bicycle rickshaw.
Greet your guide, hop into a waiting cycle rickshaw, and hit the road—the drivers of these little transports know the city like no one else. Begin your urban ride in the popular Thamel district, and zip past the vibrant, store-lined streets buzzing with activity.
Next, as you cruise towards Durbar Square, be on the lookout for the produce and spice market of Asan—the oldest market in Kathmandu. Upon arriving at historic Durbar Square—a UNESCO World Heritage Site—spend some free time as you choose. Explore the ornate grand palaces that once housed the kings of Kathmandu, or take in the impressive temples first built in the 16th century.
Once you've admired the centuries-old architecture, end your tour with a warm cup of chai tea (the more adventurous can opt for a taste of rakshi, a spicy distilled alcohol)—both of which can be purchased from a street vendor or at a local tavern, before returning to Thamel.
