Description:

Spend a day soaking up the dramatic scenery, coastal inlets, and hidden beaches of the Na Pali Coast. Motor across the waves and through ocean-carved caves by boat, trek along the shoreline to ancient Hawaiian ruins, and kick back on a beach with time to snorkel and enjoy a hot island-style lunch.

Meet your attentive captain and hop onto your vessel for the day, an inflatable boat perfect for skimming quickly along the coastline. Bask in the sea breeze as you speed toward the Na Pali Coast, a breathtaking 16-mile (25-km) stretch of the island known for its steep peaks, lush tropical valleys, and tumbling waterfalls. Take in the view from afar and get closer up, weaving through stone caves and tunnels shaped over millennia by the crashing surf.

Pull into the remote beach of Nualolo Kai and stretch your legs with a guided walk along a historic trail. Follow your guide over the rocks to the ruins of an 800-year-old fishing village, and then grab a snorkel and head into the calm and balmy waters. Your guide leads you over the reef, describing the colorful marine life you see and offering insight into Hawaii’s unique ocean ecosystem.

All that boating, trekking, and swimming is sure to work up an appetite, so dry off and make your way back to the beach, where a delicious lunch awaits—catered by local lunch spot, Mark’s Place. Tuck into fresh fare like a garden salad with papaya seed dressing, kaffir lime and lemon rice pilaf, teriyaki chicken, and slow-roasted kalua pork. A dessert of pineapple bars ends your meal on a sweet note before you hop back in the boat for the return ride to Kekaha.
