Docked in the bustling Port of Los Angeles, this stunning vessel served in World War II, the Korean War, and the Cold War before it was deactivated and turned into a fascinating floating museum.

Launched on February 24th, 1943, the USS Iowa was immediately put into service as a powerful gunship in the Pacific Ocean. Walk beneath the barrels of its now-silent 50-caliber guns and imagine the massive shells they once fired.

Step inside the maze-like interior to get glimpses of what life was like for sailors who manned this mighty battleship. Check out the captain’s chair and admire views out over the ship’s deck, hear about trips made by former presidents, and see the legacies of their visits—including the bathtub that was installed specifically for President Franklin D.
