Start your journey through time at The Temple of Debod, an Egyptian temple that was donated to Spain in 1968 by the Egyptian government. Originally constructed in the 2nd century BC, the temple has been rebuilt to look exactly as it did when it resided 2100 miles (3500 km) away. Then, it’s a quick drive through the Plaza de Espana to the Royal Palace. Although it’s not the official residence of the Spanish monarchy, it does contain one of the most impressive collections of arms in all of Europe.

The Almudena Cathedral, designed by Francisco de Cubas, is your next stop. Your GoCar provides a history of the cathedral while you take in its impressive architecture. A quick stop for a bite to eat at the Market of San Miguel helps satisfy your well-deserved appetite, and it’s the perfect place to sample some Spanish delicacies.

The road continues to the Puerto del Sol, the de facto center of the Spanish roadway system. This ornate building served as one of the original gates to the city in the 15th century. Your tour concludes with a cruise down the Gran Via, a grand boulevard lined with theaters, shops, and cafés.
