Description:

Immerse yourself in authentic Spanish culture as you explore the food at the heart of life in Madrid. Do as the locals do, and hunt down the best tapas around town, tasting, nibbling, and sipping your way from one restaurant or tapas bar to the next.

Your culinary adventure begins in the heart of the city, as your expert guide introduces you to Madrid's food scene and the jewel of the Spanish culinary repertoire: tapas. Make your way to a typical beach bar of the south—known to as a “chiringuito” —where you are introduced to a few fish dishes and get the chance to learn a bit about sustainable fishing. Next continue through the square to a cozy little tavern that opened its doors back in 1867—it's one of the oldest in the city, and the perfect place to sample your first round of tiny, shareable snacks. From there, move on to one of the most important old neighborhoods in the city, La Latina, where you pop into a traditional “Copla” tavern to sample a seafood delicatessen recipe from the north of Spain, along with some organic wines from family-operated wineries.

Depending on the day, you may also have the chance to try some tapas and wine while overlooking the sunset from a rooftop terrace. Then head to the Huertas area, stopping at Madrid’s most famed draught beer bar.

Then, it’s back to the 18th century, as your tour finishes in a historical sherry bar. Feel like time has stopped in this place that maintains the same atmosphere from 100 years ago, before continuing your tasting visit of Madrid on your own.
