Description:

Take an exhilarating jet boat ride through the emerald-green waters of the Waimakariri River Canyon in the foothills of the Southern Alps. View magnificent scenery and diverse birdlife as you ride up and down the stream.

After being picked up from your central Christchurch accommodation, enjoy a scenic 60-minute coach drive across the Canterbury plains—all the way to the foothills of the Southern Alps. At the river base, receive the equipment needed for the jet boat tour, including a spray jacket and a life jacket.

Your jet boat trip begins with an upstream ride through the deep and shallow waters of the Waimakariri River. Learn interesting facts about the history of the river and its Maori people while taking in the panoramic scenery that can only be seen from a jet boat.

The boat stops briefly at the turnabout, where you get the chance to hear the birds singing and smell the fragrance of the native beech forest. Then, head downstream at a gallop with a 350-hp engine pushing the boat along.
