Embark on a cosmic journey on the rooftop of the Hyatt Regency Maui Resort and Spa. Track the night sky through telescopes and binoculars with an expert astronomer, and learn how the ancient Hawaiians used the stars to navigate on their journeys between the islands

After the sun sinks down, head to the ninth-floor rooftop observation deck to meet the Director of Astronomy. More than 1,000 years ago, Polynesian voyagers used the bright stars overhead to navigate to the Hawaiian Islands. Gaze up at those same constellations and twinkling lights with the help of a 14-inch (35 cm) reflector telescope known as “The Edge.”

Using a computer, the Director of Astronomy selects an incredible series of interstellar phenomena to show you, from distant planets and galaxies to cloudy nebulae. Gaze up at the stars with the naked eye, and then get a closer look using high-tech binoculars and The Edge. With little light pollution, this look at the night sky is an unforgettable Hawaiian experience for anyone curious about the universe beyond our solar system.
