Description:

With its rolling foothills, mountain-framed landscapes, and historic farmsteads in winding river valleys, the natural beauty of Australia's High Country is as boundless as the continent's vast interior. Spend 2 days exploring the Victorian Alps and Canberra as you journey from Sydney to Melbourne.

Day 1
Ride from Sydney to Canberra, the country's capital city, for a tour of Parliament House. Nicknamed the “Home of the Australian Story,” Canberra houses the National Museum of Australia and the National Gallery. Visit one of these world-class institutions to learn about Australian culture, heritage, and the history of Canberra itself before hopping back in the coach and leaving the city behind.

Cruise through the countryside and over the Murrumbidgee River on your way to the charming pioneer town of Gundagai. In the evening, arrive at a working farm, where you can meet the animals and share stories with your host family over a hearty meal before bed.

Day 2
As you ride away from the farm, admire the cliff-edged swath of the Murray River on the way to the gold mining town of Beechworth. Here, you can stroll by well-preserved historic buildings and walk in the footsteps of the 1850s-era frontiersmen who came here to make their fortune.

Continue on to Powers Lookout in the foothills of the Great Dividing Range. As you look out over the forested hillsides and patchwork fields of the valley floor, hear about bushrangers like Ned Kelly and Harry Power, infamous outlaws who once roamed the High Country. Finally, pass through Kinglake National Park, where gum trees tower overhead and tranquil waterfalls tumble down stream beds, before your evening arrival in Melbourne.
