Description:

Spend 2 days in one of the most stunning areas of southern Germany, the Ostallgäu region, home to royal castles and scenic mountains and lakes. Explore 3 famous royal castles from the time of Ludwig II, stroll through the alleys of Oberammergau, and stay overnight in an elegant mountain hotel.

Day 1 – Linderhof & Neuschwanstein
Leave Munich behind and take in stunning mountain views as you travel to the Allgäu Alps. Your first stop is an hourlong visit at Linderhof Palace, where you can admire one of the grand 19th-century palaces commissioned by the Bavarian king Ludwig II, and the only one to be completed in his lifetime.

Next, enjoy a visit to the charming village of Oberammergau before continuing to Hohenschwangau, where the tour stops for the evening. Check into your hotel before taking look at the famous Neuschwanstein Castle, which famously inspired the design of Walt Disney's Sleeping Beauty Castle and became a symbol of fairy-tale elegance.

Day 2 – Hohenschwangau
After breakfast, pick up your entrance tickets for Hohenschwangau Castle at the front desk of your hotel. Enjoy a guided tour of the castle where the parents of Ludwig ll lived and where the monarch spent his early years. Spend the rest of the day at your leisure until the late-afternoon transfer back to Munich, where your tour ends.
