Description:

Venture to the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue on top of Corcovado Mountain. Ride the Cosme Velho cog train and pass through the Tijuca rainforest on your way up to the base of the statue, where you can take in sweeping views out over Guanabara Bay and Rio’s downtown sprawl.

After being picked up from your hotel, head to Cosme Velho at the base of Corcovado. This charming neighborhood has an old-world feel and it's where you board the 1885 cogwheel train for your climb up to the summit. Enjoy the views of the densely forested hillside, tropical plants, and Ipanema down below as the train makes it steep ascent toward the feet of Christ the Redeemer.

Perched atop Corcovado’s 2,300-foot (690-m) peak, the landmark Cristo Redentor statue stands a towering 100 feet (30 m) tall with his arms stretching out over the city below. Gaze down at Rio’s clustered neighborhoods, white swaths of beach, Guanabara Bay, and Sugarloaf Mountain from this spectacular vantage point before your return trip on the train.
