Description:

Your tour kicks off with coffee and locally sourced donuts—artisan hoops of heaven—made from organic ingredients with an eclectic selection of bacon maple apple, chocolate rose, or even lemon and thyme. Sip coffee as your local guide introduces you to the Mission and its legendary food scene.

Next, stop at a panaderia, a Mexican bakery capturing the culture and charm of the district. Choose from a variety of pan dulce, or Mexican sweet bread, and try a refreshing agua fresca, a blended fruit drink. Then gaze at the many vibrant murals along Balmy Avenue as your guide shares how the art describes the plight of migrant workers from Latin America, oppression in Nicaragua, and the gentrification of the Mission.

Next, it's pie time. Try a slice of some strawberry rhubarb or a roasted cauliflower and black olive quiche made with free-range eggs, organic milk, and cream. Then hop on a bus to the heart of Mission Street and try a carne asada or al pastor taco at one of the oldest and most beloved taquerias in the neighborhood.

Continue to the graffiti-lined Clarion Alley, the Mission's second largest collection of murals, lined with contemporary murals sharing stories similar to those along Balmy Avenue.
