Description:

Nestled at the foot of the Andes, the picturesque Colchagua Valley wine region produces some of Chile’s most celebrated varietals. Spend a day exploring the viticultural zone as you taste wines, enjoy a Chilean lunch at a winery, and visit a museum to delve into the region’s culture and history.

After being picked up from your hotel, set out with a small group and a knowledgeable guide to either the Casa Silva or Santa Helena winery. Sample one of the region’s well-known vintages, which include full-bodied reds like Malbec, Cabernet Sauvignon, Carmeneres, and Syrah; then move on to the town of Santa Cruz.

Stroll by the town’s colonial architecture and historic church on your way to the Ruta del Vino shop. Here, pick up a complimentary bottle of reserve wine from the valley before sitting down for a delicious lunch of Chilean specialties paired with wines from the region.

After lunch, step into the tasting room at either the Viu Manent or Montes winery, where you’re treated to another guided tasting of fine wine. Engage in an informative discussion of the region’s characteristics and the wine-growing techniques that helped the Colchagua Valley earn a nod from Wine Enthusiast magazine as the World’s Best Wine Region in 2005.

Finally, admire the collections at the Colchagua Museum. This museum exhibits everything from pre-Columbian ceramics to weapons and vintage cars, as well as wine-making equipment from the region’s past.
