Description:
From quiet, postcard-worthy beachscapes to watersports and active fun, there's a little bit of everything in the charming Whitsundays. Experience it all with a morning on Hamilton Island and a peaceful cruise to world-famous Whitehaven Beach.
Board a comfortable vessel and set out over the azure waters of the Coral Sea, sailing through the 74 islands of the Whitsundays. Disembark at the Hamilton Island marina and hop on one of the island's shuttle buses—they circuit the island a full day and stop at key attractions.
The morning on the island is yours to spend as you please. Visit Wildlife Hamilton Island to cuddle a koala, feed a kangaroo, or spot a giant crocodile lurking in the reeds. Set out along bushwalking trails to explore the island's interior and peaks, or lounge in the sun on Catseye Beach. Kayaks, stand-up paddleboards, and plenty of other water activities are available as you soak in the clear, balmy waters. At lunchtime, head back to the marina for a bite on the deck at the Marina Tavern.
In the afternoon, cruise out toward Whitsunday Island—the largest in the archipelago—and arrive at Whitehaven Beach. With its bright turquoise water and unbelievably white, 4.5-mile (7-km) stretch of pure silica sand, it's a sight to take your breath away. Enjoy a full 2 hours to stroll the beach with the sand between your toes, swim along the shore, or find a shady spot to take a break before your return cruise departs.
