Daily Itinerary
Day 1: Amman; Arrival in Amman
On arrival in Amman, you will be met and transferred to your hotel for a 3-night stay.
Day 2: Amman; Excursion to Um Qais & Ajloun from Amman
Start your day with breakfast at the hotel before heading north to discover the ancient city of Um Qais, historically known as Gadara. Set atop a scenic hill, this archaeological gem boasts sweeping views of the northern Jordan Valley, the Sea of Galilee, the Yarmouk River gorge, and the distant Golan Heights. Renowned for its rich Greco-Roman heritage, Um Qais features remarkable highlights including colonnaded streets, an ancient theater, and well-preserved ruins. Following your visit, journey onward to Ajloun to explore the formidable 12th-century Saracen castle, constructed by the forces of Saladin during the Crusades in 1189. This commanding hilltop fortress is a striking example of Arab-Islamic military architecture and offers panoramic views alongside an immersive glimpse into Jordan’s medieval past. In the late afternoon, return to your hotel in Amman for dinner and an overnight stay.
Day 3: Amman; Amman City Tour and Royal Automobile Museum
Begin your morning with a visit to the Royal Automobile Museum, one of Jordan’s most engaging and meticulously curated cultural experiences. Honoring the legacy of the late King Hussein, the museum offers a captivating journey through the Hashemite Kingdom’s modern history through an exceptional collection of classic cars and motorcycles. After the museum, set out on a guided city tour of Amman. Your tour includes highlights such as the Amman Citadel, the grand Roman amphitheater, bustling traditional souks, insightful cultural museums, and the city's modern neighborhoods. At the end of the day, return to your hotel in Amman for an overnight stay.
Day 4: Petra; Amman to Petra via Madaba, Mount Nebo & Castles
Depart Amman and journey to Petra via the historic Kings’ Road, stopping at several iconic sites along the way. Begin in Madaba, known for its stunning mosaics, including the oldest map of the Holy Land in St. George’s Church. Continue to Mount Nebo, where Moses is said to have viewed the Promised Land. Visit Um Al Rasas, a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Travel through Wadi Mujib to explore Kerak Castle, followed by a stop at Shobak Castle. Arrive in Petra in the evening for check-in and an overnight stay.
Day 5: Petra; Full-Day Exploration of Petra
After breakfast, set out for a full-day exploration of Petra, the fabled “Lost City” and ancient Nabatean capital. Begin at the Visitor Center, with an optional short horse ride led by a local Bedouin to the site's entrance. Walk through the Siq, a stunning narrow gorge leading dramatically to El Khazneh (The Treasury)—Petra’s most iconic and awe-inspiring monument. Continue discovering Petra’s marvels, including royal tombs, temples, a Roman-style theater, and ancient dwellings. After a day of wonder, return to your hotel for an overnight stay.
