Afternoon finds you settling in at Volcanoes National Park, residence of around 400 endangered mountain gorillas — nearly half of the world’s total wild population. Later, relax and cool off on an A&K-exclusive canoe trip accompanied by an experienced guide, gliding down the gently flowing Mukungwa River. Pull up on a bank for a refreshing sundowner, watching the sun slip behind the majestic peaks, your favorite drink in hand.

One of Africa’s most extraordinary wildlife experiences awaits A&K guests trekking into the dense, high-altitude forests of Volcanoes National Park, where experienced rangers read the forest to locate one of 18 habituated families of mountain gorillas. Spend an hour in the company of these fascinating, endangered primates, observing their behavior and taking pictures from a respectful distance.

In the morning, set out again on a trek to observe a different gorilla family group, to marvel at the familiar behaviors of these magnificent primates. Following lunch at your lodge, return to Kigali. Relax in a comfortable dayroom before transferring to the airport for your departing flight.
