Nestled in the historic shadow of Avignon's monumental Gothic Palais des Papes, La Mirande is a five-star Relais & Châteaux palace that captures the serene poetry, secular nobility, and timeless elegance of 18th-century French aristocratic life.

Originally a 14th-century cardinal's palace where city dignitaries were lavishly entertained, the estate was transformed during the Age of Enlightenment into a private hôtel particulier with a majestic stone facade designed by architect Pierre Mignard. In 1990, the Stein family orchestrated a brilliant, museum-quality restoration with legendary Parisian decorator François-Joseph Graf. Together, they resurrected the authentic French art de vivre with antique oak parquet floors, carved stone fireplaces, period boiserie woodwork, and hand-printed Toile de Jouy wall hangings recreated by historic textile houses including Braquenié, Le Manach, and Pierre Frey.

Beyond its 26 individually decorated guest rooms, La Mirande is one of France's premier gastronomic temples. At the 1 Michelin-starred and Michelin Green Starred "Le Restaurant," Executive Chef Florent Pietravalle crafts an evocative culinary tribute to Provence’s biodynamic terroir. Downstairs in the stone-walled cellar, "La Table Haute" brings guests together around a 19th-century wood-burning cast-iron stove for private chef dinners, while the historic "Le Marmiton" cooking school invites travelers to master classical French technique alongside celebrated regional chefs.
